The prestigious Innovative Film City at Bidadi has set up the first Innovative Film Awards for Kannada cinema for the year 2009. The grand opening of the announcement of awards was held at Leela Palace in Bangalore on Sunday evening.

The logo of the awards, the theme song (scored by Rickey Kej and written by Kaviraj) the formal inauguration was attended by Smt Parvathamma Rajakumar, Raghavendra Rajakumar, Dr Jayamala, sa.Ra.Govindu, Thomas D Souza. Rockline Venkatesh, Prasad on behalf of the Innovative film city and awards plus the key sponsor Zee Kannada Gautham Machaiah and Shekar were also present at this glorious moment for Kannada cinema.

The first of the award will be given away on Sunday 18th April for 40 characters. There will be a surprise for the award winner and all walks of the film department will be given prominence. A panel of awards will select the people selected awards to finally announce the awards on the awards evening. It is a three hours award evening mixed with cultural activities.

The style of Film Fare and IFA is what we want to bring in for this award feels Rockline Venkatesh and Prasad of the Innovative Film City awards key operators. Dr Jayamala hopes for grand affair and also value based awards. This should also bring in the audience to the theatres Jayamala felt.

The brand ambassador of the Innovative Film awards Ambarish for the first time read out the speech and hoped for the best things to Kannada cinema. He was decked in a special costume for this occasion. For achievement there is lot of work to do. The youngsters should pull the mantle of Kannada cinema with great aplomb hoped Ambarish.

In the world wide this kind of award should bring an awareness on Kannada cinema and speak of the standards expressed the chairman and advisory committee head Raghavendra Rajakumar. ‘I should take an award like this the people in the industry should feel’ said Raganna.

Hosa Spoorthige….Hosa Tharege…..from 122 films released in 2009 the awards will be given in the best of 40 categories.

Meanwhile the categories are tucked in the CD handed over to media was claimed. That is not true. Except logos there is nothing in the CD. Taking the media for a ride?

The Zee Kannada holds the right of this award evening. It will not be telecast live but it will be a recorded telecast says Shekar the local head of Zee Kannada.
